Anthrax to release a cover EP.

We’ve got some awesome news for you Anthrax fans out there! To celebrate the creative success and critical acclaim of the band’s 2011 album, ‘Worship Music,’ Anthrax are planning on treating fans with a special EP due out in September of this year. During our very recent interview with Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, (seriously, it was like an hour ago) the legendary stickman told us that the band is working on an EP of cover songs. The upcoming work will pay tribute to some of Anthrax’s favorite bands — more specifically, bands from the 1970s. “To commemorate the first year of ‘Worship Music’ being out, we’re putting together a little companion EP with some fun s–t on it,” says Benante. “It started out as what I call ‘The ’70s EP.’ It’s made up of some cover songs from our favorite bands — consisting of Rush, Thin Lizzy, Boston, Journey … We’re still working on it now, but I think it’s gonna be really cool.”

Queensryche And Singer Geoff Tate Part Ways!

Rock band Queensryche is continuing forward without vocalist Geoff Tate, who will be replaced by Crimson Glory singer Todd La Torre, Billboard has exclusively learned.

"Over the past few months, there have been growing creative differences within Queensryche. We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction," drummer Scott Rockenfield said in a statement. "We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We can't wait to bring Queensryche to our fans with Todd behind the microphone."

The statement also said that scheduled Queensryche performances "are on hold at [the] present time and revised routing is being worked on. Fans can check the band's website for all of the latest tour information as it [becomes] available."
